White man, the other side of the story

I just don’t know where to start
I feel sick to my stomach, my emotions churn,
When you say “White Man”; it sets us apart
You tell us stories so we may learn, but

I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person by the colour of my skin
I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person within’

Confused and angered by the tone of the label
White man demeans me, I don’t understand
Why is this process of healing, a process of hurt
Are we not all cut from the same pattern, by the same hand?

I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person by the colour of my skin
I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person within’

Black, white, red, yellow, brown, A world of colours
Yet a tint of pigment is it only, nothing more
Our armour, our shell, beneath which we share
A heartbeat and blood, an identical core

I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person by the colour of my skin
I don’t want to feel this way
I’m a bad person within
I refuse to be ashamed for the sins of my kin

Lets not discriminate and broad on the past
Lets appreciate and focus on the future
